Travel To Jordan - Quick Guide

Jordan is one of the countries to be in  the time of European late winter and  early spring time.

No matter how much time you have when you visit Jordan, one thing is for sure – you have to see Petra and Wadi Rum. If you are not limited with time or you have at least one week or more time then add to your itinerary Jerash, Um Qaiss and Aqaba in case you are diving enthusiast.

When you come to Amman Airport, first thing you will have to do is to buy Jordanian visa in the event  you haven’t arranged it prior to arrival. For this reason have US Dollar currency prepared as Euros are not accepted.

Many of you consider Car Rental Amman Airport – book it online before you  go. On our site we offer reliable and quality suppliers not only on Amman airport but also on other locations throughout Jordan. Very important to know if you opt for car rental in Amman Airport – suppliers have no offices there, be sure to provide flight number in the process of reservation. Someone will be waiting for you with the ordered car in arrivals area – this is called free meet and greet service. Have international driving permit with you.

Usually for most of the travellers first stop is city of Amman at least for a day. This hilly Middle Eastern metropolis has many ancient charms and traditional feel, especially area near Citadel but the best things can be found outside the capital.

Madaba and Dead Sea – if you are comfortably wandering around with rented car, in less than an 45 minutes you can reach Madaba from Amman.  A visit to Madaba is necessary if you are into religious and architectural historical heritage. An hour or so later you can reach Dead sea coast and necessarily have a swim in the saltiest see in the world. If you are on the tight budget, the cheapest entrance to the beach is on Amman beach.

Petra – dedicate two days to visit Petra if you have a chance as in one day you will really see only a glimpse of it. In the evenings you can participate in night walk and see Petra by night, where hundreds of candles are lit, Bedouins having a musical performance and visitor are offered a cup of tea. For Petra lovers we also suggest  to arrange a dinner in Little Petra where you will have an opportunity to experience real, authentic Bedouin dinner with locals.

Wadi Rum – is not accessible with private cars, therefore if you have rented car you will leave it in secured parking and

someone from arranged tour company will await for you. For visiting Wadi Rum you can contact local tour operators that offer desert safaris with vehicles customized for driving in sand dunes.

Aqaba – even hotter than Dead sea, Aqaba is known for snorkelling and diving activities.

Many people neglect the northern part of Jordan which looks totally different than the rest of the country. If you go to Jerash to see the famous roman ruins, a drive to Irbid and Um Qaiss is not so far, but absolutely worth a visit. In Um Qaiss you see Golan Heights, Syria, Israel and on a clear day even Lebanon!  Um Qais  is best  to visit on weekdays and it might happen you will have all the majestic views all to yourself.
