The Studenica monastery is a Serbian Orthodox monastery situated in central Serbia. It is one of the largest and richest Serb Orthodox monasteries, it was founded in 1190. The monastery’s fortified walls encompass two churches: the Church of the Virgin, and the Church of the King, both of which were built using white marble. The monastery is famous for its collection of medieval Byzantine-style fresco paintings. Studenica was declared Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance, and it is protected by Republic of Serbia, and in 1986 UNESCO included Studenica monastery on the list of World Heritage Sites.
Vrnjacka Banja has three mineral water springs, of which one is warm and two are cold. Consider hiring a car from a local dealer, this is the most convenient way of visiting the spas. Soko Banja is a well known spa centre from the Roman times The healthy waters come from several spring, with temperatures up to 45 °C. Banja Koviljaca has also been known for centuries. Niska Banja has a number of thermal and radioactive springs, the temperature is up to 30 °C.
